Bio

Steph Blondet is a Puerto Rican artist based in Tampa Bay, FL, whose work explores the moments we hold through sculptural form, texture, and the interplay of light and shadow. Known for her tactile surfaces, intuitive use of color, and dimensional compositions, she creates paintings that shift and change depending on the viewer's perspective and the light in a room.

Blondet began her artistic journey after a health scare in 2021, turning to art as a form of healing and self-expression. Following the loss of her soul dog two years later, she fully committed to her professional art practice, allowing personal transformation to guide her creative direction. Her work has since evolved into a deeply intuitive process that reflects the quiet act of holding and carrying moments, experiences, and emotions over time.

Her sculptural paintings have been collected privately in the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada. Her work is available through gallery representation and by commission, and she works from her studio at Ybor Hive in Tampa's historic Ybor City.

Artist Statement

My work explores the moments we hold through sculptural form, texture, and the interplay of light and shadow. Using dimensional surfaces and intuitive gesture, I create pieces that shift depending on perspective, light, and proximity. The forms I build curve, fold, and settle into place, each one existing on its own while also relating to the others, creating a quiet sense of presence that changes as you move around them.

Each piece is guided by repetition and intuition, allowing structure and softness to exist together. I work slowly and deliberately, responding to the material as it evolves. The tactile quality of the surfaces invites close viewing, where subtle shifts in light and shadow reveal depth that photographs can’t fully capture.

Though rooted in personal experience, my work speaks to something universal. It reflects the moments we carry, some quiet, some complex, all held in different ways over time. Through these sculptural forms, I aim to create work that feels grounded and alive, offering a sense of recognition without needing to be explained.
